5 Ways to Build Sustainability into your Travel Program
What’s Good for the Earth is Better for Business
Travel sustainability is nothing new. Travel managers, business travellers, and forward-thinking people across your organisation have been talking about it for years. But now that employees and shareholders see its business value and environmental merit, it’s time to act.
Changing established processes and transforming business travel for sustainability isn’t easy, but our five tips should help to get you on the right path:
- Start with sourcing. If your suppliers and your partners practice sustainability, it is that much easier for your business travellers.
- Embed guidance into your booking experience. Business travellers want to do the right thing, but they don’t always know what that is. And with so many variables to sort through and decisions about timing, costs, and sustainability, they need guidance as they go through the booking process.
- Track and measure your results. Data makes the difference, because it can show you what sustainable travel looks like and help you measure your progress.
- Help business travellers with your tracking. When business travellers know how their choices impact the overall organisation, it gives them extra incentive. So consider tools that show them the effect of their individual booking choices, as well as their ongoing impact.
- Talk about more than travel. Travel sustainability is a key contributor to any company’s eco-efforts, but it’s important to communicate sustainability efforts across and within the organisation as a whole.
